about
Maui-born singer, songwriter and guitarist Lily Meola shares some vulnerable notes on depression in relationships and navigating that journey in her newest single, "Over The Moon." The piano weaves a pensive harmony while the strings create an orchestral melancholy, enriching the emotional depth of the track with lush, sweeping arrangements.
"This song is about what it was like for me to be depressed while having a partner who doesn’t understand what that feels like; feeling unloved when you need love the most is surely difficult. Writing this and getting to sing it live has been such a great way to express these emotions I kept so bottled up," Lily shares.
Lily has nearly 2M monthly listeners on Spotify along with a social following of over 550K. Lily sang a version of "Will You Remember Mine" with Willie Nelson from his 90th birthday celebration at the holiday bowl that is now available on all streaming platforms. She is working on her next project, set for release in 2024.
lyrics
You said I was a centerfold
Put our love on a pedestal
In your eyes I was the most
Exciting thing in every room
That was me for you
You watched me like a movie scene
Said I was the prettiest girl you’d ever seen
Along the way something changed
Like good things tend to do
That was me for you
Maybe you just got too comfortable
Or did time make me less lovable?
You hung the stars in my sky
Till they fell for you
You gave me too much space
When I was blue
That’s when I got over the moon
When did I become second place?
Was it when my body changed?
Or was it when the light inside me
Didn’t shine like it used to?
How’d we become something you weren’t scared to lose?
Maybe you just got too comfortable
Or did time make me less lovable?
You hung the stars in my sky
Till they fell for you
You gave me too much space
When I was blue
That’s when I got over the moon
I would have reorganized
The constellations
If it would’ve meant that
You’d have stayed when it got heavy
But I just drifted away
And you let me
Maybe you just got too comfortable
Or did life make me less lovable?
You hung the stars in my sky
Till they fell for you
You gave me too much space
When I was blue
That’s when I got over the moon
